Verbatim responses to various questions/suggestions for change:
Community Involvement & Meetings
Would like to see more members
Would like to see more people actively involved
Would like to raise dues to $40/year
Wish there was more community effort.
Want more active members. If the clean-up day was geared toward the common areas rather than cleaning up my neighbors property we would all be better off. The big bins were great - what happened this year?
Consider alternating picnic site (we live on the lower side of the neighborhood)
Better communication - confusion between two community associations
Newsletters should be 4x/year
Meetings
Annual meetings usually have good info
Would attend annual meetings if I had issues. I get my info through the newsletter.
Email notification may decrease need for more meetings.
More meetings may be a way to get feedback/input on issues at mid-year
More meetings might make our association stronger and better listened to in our community.
Attended an annual meeting, but unfortunately everything we brought up to change that year
was just "put
aside" like "we can't do anything about it". Got discouraged.
Poor representation at annual meetings; additional meetings may increase chances of people interacting.
Annual meetings tend to be contentious which I find most unfortunate
At least 2 meetings a year would be good, and all meetings of the Board should be publicized and open to all homeowners.
Safety and Sidewalks
Would like speed control measures on SE 48th Dr.
Lobby the City of Bellevue to install traffic islands at the intersections on 48th Dr. Speeding on 48th has been putting all at risk for years.
No major changes, although I wish we could enforce sidewalk and tree trimming. Also wish I had a sidewalk by my home.
Visual obstructions at street intersections removed & maintained
Discuss safety issues: People parking in curves
Would like speed bumps, speed enforcement & signage
Services
Neighborhood babysitting
Find out whether some elderly neighbors are isolated and if so, create activities to
stop that isolation (offer transportation, supervising children from neighborhood)
Standing committee for mediation. If we can follow upon all the services HCCA is offering, we should be in good shape.
Spring egg hunt could possibly be done in conjunction with Whispering Heights
Would like to see applicable laws (e.g. junker cars) in Newsletter, as well as commercial vehicle/motor home parking reminders. Pooping and barking dogs are a problem.
Be a green community - get together to learn how to have an "organic" property
I think neighborhood garage sale is a great idea and would cut down on the amount of traffic in and out of the neighborhood during the summer months when people are having them at all different times
Involvement in Bellevue school issues that affect our area
Neighborhood Enhancements
Re-landscape main entrance
More dumpsters. They are all full the Friday of Spring clean-up.
The nice thing about the dumpsters is that spring clean up used to be for
everyone in the neighborhood, not just "island cleanup". The dumpsters motivated the entire community to work in their yards and clean up allowing them to dump more in the dumpsters. This year for spring cleanup only the Assoc. members showed up to clean up the island so the entire community was not involved.
I was glad to see sidewalks on 15th on the Neighborhood Enhancement ballot. It is ridiculous that this has never been done.
Islands are nice now - do not need to be re-landscaped.
Like islands as they are - do not need relandscaping
I did not like the way the paint issue was brought up. I was not even aware there are covenants governing this development.
Would like to see neighborhood litter collection. We always pick up litter when we go for walks.
Sidewalk along one side of 150th (realize it is actually outside neighborhood proper - but is needed). Also efforts (e.g. work parties) to clean up area outside fences of homes along 150th.
Would like to see pedestrian walkways
Would like sidewalk built @ 164th & Lakemont.
Sidewalks on both side of the street in all Bellevue residence areas would be a great improvement.
Unifying planting theme (i.e. Northwest native plants to accompany
"Northwest Palette of Colors" in covenant guidelines for painting
Extend sidewalks (where there are none now)
Better yard care, garbage receptacles out of view
Mailbox Feedback
New mailboxes & stands
New mailboxes (like Whispering Heights)
Mailbox facelifts
Mail box reconstruction should be an individual decision.
Would like to see mailbox reconstruction for our island
Do not want new mailboxes
Would like to participate in upgrading 49th Pl. community Post office box. Wood is falling apart on existing mailbox stand.
Having purchased & installed our own mailboxes since we moved in, I believe the mailboxes are personal property
Trees/View Feedback
Trees in view now a major problem
Trees blocking views and grossly unkempt yards and narrowing sidewalks because of overgrowth
Trees blocking views
Better enforce covenants regarding preservation of views
View issues, nice neighborhood
Covenants have no teeth (trees)
Over the years trees and plants have grown. Hedges need to be clipped.
